Omegas for Radiant Skin and a Healthy Soul

When it comes to taking care of your skin, it’s important to nourish it both from the outside and the inside. As much as I’m passionate about running my natural skincare business, I also love to cook. For me, the kitchen is my sanctuary where I unwind and enjoy creating delicious meals. I’m not one for strict diets or cutting out entire food groups—I adore butter, cheese, and the occasional glass of wine. But I also make sure to incorporate plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables, and oily fish into my meals, along with drinking plenty of water daily.

Great skin goes beyond just a skincare routine. A healthy, balanced diet combined with a solid skincare regimen can have a profound impact on your skin, your well-being, and your mood. When you feel good on the inside, it shines through on the outside.

Let’s start with a key component that benefits both our skin and our overall health: Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids.

These essential fatty acids are not only vital for healthy skin but also support our bones and overall body function. While many people take Omega 3 and 6 supplements, it’s just as important to incorporate them into your diet and to look for natural skincare products rich in these oils.

Oily fish like mackerel, sardines, salmon, and tuna are great sources of Omega 3 and 6. They’re not only healthy but also delicious and versatile in a variety of dishes. If you’re vegetarian or vegan, fear not—there are other excellent sources such as avocado, sunflower oil, and dark leafy greens like kale, cavolo nero, and savoy cabbage, all of which are rich in these essential fatty acids.

In your skincare products, look for ingredients such as rosehip oil, chia seed oil, kiwi seed oil, thistle (also known as safflower), borage, and evening primrose oil. These oils provide wonderful benefits for the skin, helping it stay nourished, hydrated, and radiant.

Omega-rich oils are often used in skincare as emollients, meaning they help to soften and soothe the skin. These oils are excellent for reducing dryness, flakiness, and the appearance of scaly skin. They can also improve circulation, minimize pore size, and treat skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and acne.

Additionally, many of these oils are thin and absorb quickly into the skin, making them ideal for all skin types, including oily and combination skin. Of course, they are equally effective for dry, mature, and normal skin types as well.

One of the most popular oils in natural skincare is organic rosehip oil. Rich in both Omega 3 and Omega 6, it’s known for its regenerative properties, making it ideal for treating damaged, dull, or sunburned skin. Rosehip oil is incredibly versatile, helping to improve the skin’s texture and appearance.

Another powerhouse ingredient is organic argan oil, which is packed with Omega 6. Argan oil helps maintain the skin’s elasticity, softness, and suppleness. It’s perfect for regenerating and repairing damaged skin, which is why it’s a key ingredient in products like Rest & Regenerate night balm and Repair & Renew face oil. Argan oil is also a common ingredient in Moroccan cooking, where it adds a rich, nutty flavor to dishes. Not only will it satisfy your taste buds, but it’s also beneficial for your skin when added to your diet.

To wrap it up, Omega-rich foods and oils play a significant role in nourishing both your skin and your soul. By including these ingredients in your diet and skincare routine, you’ll see a difference in the way your skin looks and feels. So, why not enjoy a delicious meal while giving your skin the love it deserves?
