Spring Clean Your Skincare Routine for a Radiant Glow

As the seasons shift and spring approaches, it’s the perfect time to refresh your skincare routine. While beauty may be skin deep, there’s no denying that glowing, radiant skin can make a huge difference in how we feel. If you’ve been looking for ways to brighten and revive your complexion, now is the perfect time to start incorporating a few simple steps into your daily regimen.

Cleansing: The Foundation of Radiant Skin

First and foremost, proper cleansing is essential for any brightening skincare routine. It’s important to cleanse both morning and night. At night, make sure you remove makeup, SPF, and any dirt or grime accumulated throughout the day. Your skin works to repair itself while you sleep, and giving it a clean slate is crucial for optimal results. In the morning, a fresh cleanse will set the tone for your daily skincare routine.

When you use a gentle cleansing balm or oil, such as Clean Sweep or I Can See Clearly Now, the act of massaging the product into your skin also boosts circulation, which in turn helps brighten and revitalize your complexion.

Exfoliation: The Secret to Bright, Renewed Skin

Exfoliating is one of the most effective ways to achieve glowing skin, but it’s important to approach it with care. Many people assume that an abrasive scrub is necessary for effective exfoliation, but that’s actually not the case. Harsh scrubs can cause more harm than good, leading to irritation and damage.

Instead, opt for a gentler approach. For example, jojoba wax grains, used in my Scrub Up face scrub, offer a soft yet effective way to exfoliate without harming the skin. These spherical grains glide over the skin, gently polishing the surface and promoting a smooth, even texture.

In addition to jojoba grains, I use natural fruit acids (AHAs) such as malic, lactic, and glycolic acids, derived from bilberries, lemons, and oranges. These acids, paired with papaya enzymes, help to dissolve dead, dull skin and speed up the skin’s natural renewal process. As we age, our skin’s ability to renew itself slows down, but regular exfoliation can help bring back that youthful glow. Not only will exfoliation brighten your skin, but it will also allow your serums and oils to be better absorbed, making them more effective.

Aim to exfoliate two to three times a week, ideally in the evening after cleansing. However, if you have very sensitive skin or conditions like rosacea, I recommend skipping exfoliation or opting for a gentler treatment.

Brightening Face Masks: A Gentle Alternative

If you have sensitive skin and want to brighten without exfoliating, a face mask is a great option. My “Look on the Bright Side” mask is a wonderful weekly treatment that provides natural brightening benefits. It contains 10% vitamin C, which helps even out skin tone and enhance radiance. The papaya and pineapple enzymes gently exfoliate, while the white clay works to clear the skin.

For an added boost, mix the mask with a couple of drops of my Bloom & Glow face oil and your favorite serum or toner. This combination will leave your skin feeling softer, smoother, and more luminous.

The Key to a Radiant Glow

While many people focus on tackling wrinkles, I believe that achieving bright, radiant skin is the true key to youthful-looking skin. When your skin glows, any fine lines or wrinkles tend to fade into the background. To help your skin achieve that radiant, glowing look, incorporate ingredients like avocado and rice bran to revive dull skin, pumpkin for its zinc content, and sea buckthorn and bisabolol to calm inflammation.

Spring is the perfect time to refresh your skincare routine. By focusing on cleansing, gentle exfoliation, and brightening treatments, you’ll have your skin looking its best in no time. The result? A radiant complexion that will leave you feeling confident and refreshed all season long.
